The Cognitive Behavioral Training for Insomnia app is based on the time honored principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Additionally, *CBT-I is recommned by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine as the first line treatment for chronic insomnia*. So why don’t we call this a “therapy” app? That’s easy. Therapy is a one-to-one relationship between a therapist and a client. That kind of relationship is not possible with one person and an iPad or iPhone app. What can happen is that many of the cognitive and behavioral principles found in CBT-I can be incorporated into an educational app for insomnia.
